One For The Books.

Today is a day of celebration.
Today is a day of excitement.
Today is a day of anticipation.
Today is a day of nervousness.
Today is graduation.
Well, not for me! For Emily that is. :)

She picked up her cap and gown earlier this week, so we decided to snap some photos around campus.
Check 'em out:

Some of my favorite pictures are always the ones that are unplanned and slightly flawed. This is overexposed and candid. I love it.

Happy Graduation Day Roomie!
I'm so proud of you.

Excitement

Friends,

I have exciting news. Today, one of my photos was posted on a tumblr site. This is the first time any of my photos have appeared on another blog. I know it's not much, but I am beyond excited!!!

I Can Hear The Bells

Two weekends ago, I went home for my cousin Jacqueline's bridal shower.
We had delicious food, dessert, and lots of gifts!
Take a look:

Somehow I always end up with more pictures of dessert than "real food."

The brunette is the lovely bride-to-be. :)
With her future mother-in-law (my sweet auntie).
It was even a kid-friendly shower!
The kiddies enjoyed the desserts. :) Oh how I wish I could see his eyes in the left picture.
Meet Jeremiah- my adorable little cousin.

They are a cooking-pair. She got lots of kitchen necessities!
And Southern essentials- I thought this was such a neat gift!
Of course the traditional "bow bouquet."
(Is that the proper term? Or did I just make that up?)
This photo sat on the gift table!
Also, notice the real bouquet in front of it? My sweet Momma made this and set it in Jacqueline's chair, so everyone would know which was the "Bride's Chair."

I'm so excited for such a wonderful addition to my family.
June 4th is just around the corner! It'll be here before we know it!

The Little Things.

This morning I woke up to this sweet display from HRFP#1.

It's the little things, my friends...
All it takes is something small- something little like a baby muffin and a note to make all the difference.
Do something small today, friends. Make someone smile.

Have a muffin, and a great day!

Garden Shower.

Friends!
Today, I attended a bridal shower for my future-sister-in-law. It was held in the most beautiful gardens, on a secluded farm in the outskirts of Tallahassee.
Highlights included: blue skies, cool mojitos, fresh cut hydrangeas, and good ol' Southern charm.
Here are some photos from the day.

The bride-to-be is the pretty curly haired blonde on the far right. :)

Each table had a different set of china. This was my mom and I's favorite. :)

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, that was probably the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten.
Hummingbird Cake- a southern favorite.

Gifts and Tips were freely given.
Given that I don't quite have the experience necessary to offer "advise for the bride" (uh-oh did I just reveal my relationship status??), I do have two decades of experience as a sister. So I provided advise to make life with my brother a little bit easier. :)

What'd ya think?
Who's excited for the wedding????

Carolyn and Emily Take On: Banana Bread

Got Rotten Bananas?

Don't throw them out!
Grab a friend, and make some banana bread :)

Measure out some flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
Add eggs.
Mash these up and throw 'em in there too.

If you're somewhat healthy, then you stop here. Pour into your prepared loaf pan and pop in the oven.

Butttt..if you live life on the edge, then you add some of these!
Yep. Chocolate Chips.
They're so worth it.
Bake for an hour or so.
Then when it's still slightly warm, slice a piece, pour a glass of milk, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Oh, and be sure to share with your friends.

The first of many "Carolyn and Emily Take on..."s.
Get excited bloggers. :)
