Life in Black and White.

A sampling of B/W photos I have taken over the past year.
No connection other than their color..or lack thereof.

The thing I love about B/W photography is that it really forces you to capture texture.
You don't have color to work with, so instead your focus becomes texture, grain, consistency (yep, I just did a Thesaurus search of "texture").
Photography has really changed the way I look at the world. Don't get me wrong, I'm not getting all philosophical on y'all. But I really do look at things differently.
I see a scene and immediately think how I would compose a photo.
Inanimate objects are given life.
Ugly scenes have a place.
Blah. Blah. Blah.
You get the point. :)
Hope y'all enjoyed the pictures!

It's A Man's World.

Masculinity in various forms:

The Fashion Seeker.

The Whiskey Drinker.
The Cigar Smoker.
The Outdoorsman.
The Gentleman.

I wish I had more!
This might become a "post in progress."

Elizabeth & Steve.

Steve loves Elizabeth.
Elizabeth loves Steve.
Elizabeth also loves horses.
Steve and Elizabeth love their black lab.
See what happens when two people, two animals (at times 3), and a whole lotta love come together:

One Big Happy Family. :)
We were interrupted.
The Culprit.
Love brings laughter.

And smiles.

Lots of smiles!

I will always remember Elizabeth and Steve for giving me the first opportunity to shoot a couple not directly related to me.
I had such a wonderful time, and I wish them all the luck in their upcoming marriage!

Ft. Pierce Travelogue

Hi Friends!
So as I said in my last post, I recently took a trip to South Florida.
Me and my two roommates travelled to Ft. Pierce, Fl for 5 days of pure relaxation. It was amazing.
I toted my camera around with me pretty much 24/7 with the intent of creating my version of a travelogue.
So here goes nothin':

The Sandhurst was our first stop. Unfortunately, it was unplanned. We ran into a little speed bump attempting to get into our condo at 1 am, and were forced to find a hotel room! The Sandhurst was good to us for the 6 hours that we were there.
And ironically enough, Dove assured us we were exactly where we were supposed to be.
Finally, the next morning we made it to our Ocean Villa.

We spent a lot of time soaking up the sun at the pool/beach, and I didn't take too many pictures there.
But a few things I found note-worthy..
This Woman's Swim Cap
This woman's twin with the same swim cap.
I'm still a little camera shy and didn't have the courage to get closer so I could get an actual good shot. :(
Condo buildings surrounding us. I love pictures of tall buildings.
One evening we ventured out to the Jetty Park.
It's a neat place for Fishermen...

Friends...
Bicyclers..

He caught me taking his picture so he flashed a smile. :)

And Couples. Hehe :)

On a cloudy day, we made our way over to the neighboring town of Stuart.
And wandered around downtown.

HRFP#1 was smitten by these finger puppets we found in a cute store.

She claimed they were like the voices in her head :)

As 3 girls with perpetual sweet toothes (teeth?), these cupcakes looked delicious through the window. But instead in our typical sophisticated fashion we opted for...

A Cup of Coffee and a Muffin!

And I took pictures.

Lots of pictures.

A downtown oyster bar.

Overcast skies make for great B/W photos.

On our way out of town, we stopped for one more walk on the beach.

The next series of pictures are completely candid.
Let's just say I was in the right place at the right time.

Hehehehe

She's a cutie. :)

It was a lovely trip. I felt so blessed to be able to spend 5 relaxing days with two of my BEST friends.

PS I really don't know what type of photographer I want to be, but this trip gave me an idea.
I'm not sure what exactly it would be called, but basically people would hire me to go on vacations with them, and I would document their trip.
It sounds like a dream profession to me.
Let me know if any of y'all have an upcoming trip! ;)
