.haley, wedding shower

Last Saturday, I had the privilege of throwing a wedding shower for my cousin (basically sister!) Haley. Haley and Ross will be married in April, and I cannot be more excited.

The shower was at a nearby restaurant that is in an old Southern house. My Mom helped me make some flower arrangements of camellias (remember how much I love these flowers?), and they turned out lovely. We played a fun game called He Said/She Said that involved holding up fake mustaches and lips. It was great fun! I loved watching my sweet Grandma hold up the mustache. :)

I must confess I did not take all of these photos, as I was doing a lot of hostess-ing. My sweet friend Meredith took many of them, but I couldn't help but share! Thanks Mery!

Haley, you looked absolutely beautiful! I hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did.

PS I apologize for my absence lately. I have been working on a very exciting project. There will be big news coming soon on Life Through A Lens, so be on the look out!

.life lately

Hello friends! I have a little update on my life as of late. I recently got a job as an assistant to a local wedding photographer. Her name is Catherine from Woodland Fields Photography, and she is incredible. I am so lucky to be able to observe and learn from her!

So far, I have assisted at three weddings. And just to clarify, "assist" does not mean the same thing as "second shoot." I have merely been caring bags, changing lens, and setting up lighting. ALL important things, mind you. But, to be honest it has been quite difficult to witness all these lovely weddings and not have a camera in hand to capture them. So, what have I been doing? Using my iPhone of course! 8 megapixels of gold. ;)

Here's what I've seen in between carrying a 20 lb camera bag and scarfing down sampling wedding cake:

Have a restful Sunday, my friends :)

.anything but ordinary

A few days ago, I said to my friend Emily that I love photography because everyone sees something different. Two people could be in the same place at the same time and compose entirely different photographs, because they saw entirely different things.

A lot of times the things that I see and the things that I find beautiful are the things that are a little off. Not quite "picture perfect," if you will. Just ordinary.

Here are some images from the wedding that I really love, but probably won't be framed and hung over the bride and groom's mantle:

Happy Thursday to you, my friends.

Cheers,
-C.

P.S. Things worth noting:

  •  I'm headed to the mountains today!
  •  8 days until I leave for London!!!!
  • THIS pin was almost the title of this blog post.

.john&amy.married

John&Amy tied the knot, or more like flipped the coin (literally, John flipped a coin!) on the beautiful white sands of Destin beach.

Their fun loving relationship was obvious to all and a joy to photograph. Thanks you two for asking me to be a part of your big day!

Here's a small sample of what I saw:

Happy Tuesday, friends.

PS I will most likely be posting more wedding photos sometime this week. So, don't be a stranger :)
