.thanksgiving recap

Holidays are always a big deal in my family.

We have a pretty big clan, and everyone is always invited. Growing up every birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Fourth of July.. (you name it!) we had at least 25+ people. There were many years that I remember my Mom renting plates so we would have enough.

But this year was a little different. Life happened, and a good chunk of the family was unable to make it. We only had 12 people, which was sad, but it did have its perks. One of them being Mom could use her own china! Less people also meant Mom had to spend less time preparing food, and more time fellowshipping with the rest of us. I was grateful for that.

My sister and I decorated the two tables (we usually have 4-5!), and I thought they were beautiful and totally picture worthy... if I do say so myself. :)

Here's what I saw:

Hope y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, no matter who you spent it with.

.chair envy

Interior design is not my forte. I have no earthly idea how to mix ikat with gingham and florals with polka dots. Or how to arrange the living room furniture to balance a cozy conversation area with adequate traffic flow.

Lucky for me, my mom is an expert at this! Any design question I have I defer straight to her.

But alas, I still so enjoy admiring a well designed room. Over spring break I visited the Vinoy Renaissance Resort [key word: "visited", not "stayed at"] and man their lobby absolutely kills it!

Here are some of my favorites:

I had to seriously suppress my desire to smuggle this chair out the lobby doors.
Unfortunately it was a little large to fit in my purse.
Note to self: next time bring a bigger purse.

What do you think? Would you be brave enough to showcase this colorful, modern style in your home?

Happy hump day!

.interiors

So here's the part where we pretend like I've been a diligent blogger, posting beautiful and inspiring images every other day.

And nothing like a disappearing act who has been suffering from less inspiration than a chef who lost his taste buds.

Sound good? K, great.

One of my favorite magazines Matchbook often features images of lovely interiors owned by famous designers, fashionistas, authors, and the like. It always amazes me, as I flip through the pages, how a photograph of a simple bookcase or kitchen cabinets can catch my eye and beg me to do a double take.

Although I don't know any famed artists with magnificent homes to photograph, I decided to practice my hand at photographing interiors.

Where did I start? Why, my own bedroom of course!

Here's what I saw:

Please ignore the computer on my bed and the laundry basket on the floor..it looks "livable", no??
Oh, and the dying flowers. Pretend those aren't there either.
We're doing lots of pretending today aren't we?

Hope y'all are enjoying life!
My birthday is in a couple days.. :)

Cheers,
C.
