Day 30.

It's the final day my friends.
To wrap things up, I would like to share with you some photos that I have taken on my iPhone.

I'm going to nerd it out here for a minute:
I read an interview a few months ago with the creator of Instagram.
When friends or clients ask her to recommend a good point and shoot camera,
he/she (I know, SO tacky. I can't remember) tells them not to waste their money.
"If you have an iPhone, that's all you need."
In my humble opinion, I completely agree with him (or her).
Not only is it extremely convenient, but with the numerous editing apps that are available now
(for little to no $$)
the iPhone has become a legitimate alternative to a digital point and shoot.

What do you think??
Makes you wanna get an iPhone doesn't it? :)

I hope y'all have enjoyed these 30 days as much as I have.
Thank you all for your support!!
I hope Life Through a Lens remains a daily part of your lives.

See ya tomorrow!

Day 29.

Friends, isn't this a fun picture??
Birds are so funny the way they stay together all the time.

I messed around with the color a lot when first editing this photo, then I decided that the original colors were best. The photo would not be nearly as interesting if the sky wasn't so blue behind the birdies.
You might not even be able to tell that the background is in fact the sky,
and that the birds are perched on the very top of a building.

Anyways, hope this photo puts a smile on  your face today!

Day 28.

Friends, I apologize for this late post.
To be completely honest, I forgot!
I have a lot going on around here (more on that later),
but thankfully I have a caring Mother who called and reminded me that I only have 3 days left of
Project [Blank] and I can't give up now.

So in other news, it is supposed to get chillier around here tonight!
Granted "chillier" is a relative term, (for all of my friends in the North)
but it still makes me want to don a chunky sweater and sip a hot latte.

Hope y'all had a great Wednesday!

Day 25.

Hello friends,
Do you have a pen pal?
Someone that once a week you pull out your best pen and thick paper to update him [or her] on the outcome of your blind date last week? Or to share a delicious cake recipe that you made for your friend's birthday three nights ago?
If not, you should!
There is something so delightful about expressing yourself through ink.
And something even more exciting about the anticipation that builds inside your bones as you skip down to the mailbox each afternoon.

Ask around. I'm sure you all have a friend who appreciates the art of letter writing.
And if you can't find someone, ask me!
I'd be absolutely tickled to be your pen pal.

Have a wonderful Sunday,
-C.

Day 22.

Yesterday was the first official day of Fall.
Why does it seem like I'm always a day late on things??
Well, as they say, better late than never. :)

Hope these images help you to embrace the season!

Day 20.

It was my Momma's birthday two days ago.
She and my Dad flew off to the Windy City last week to celebrate (yep, I was super jealous).
So since I didn't get to do so in person,
please join me in wishing my fantastic Mother a Happy [Belated] Birthday!

Here are some cute photos I snapped of her on our road trip this summer:

She's very photogenic!

Hehe, this one's my favorite.

I'll refrain from revealing her age, for fear that she might punish me.
But trust me, she doesn't look anything near it. :)

I love you Mom!

Day 19.

Today, I want to share with y'all a photo from a trip that I took to Europe when I was in high school.
In part, I credit this trip for developing in me a love for photography.
The first camera I ever owned was given to me as a gift to take on this trip.

This particular photo was taken in Rome at Piazza di Spagna,
or as it's known in English the "Spanish Steps".

The piazza is a highly trafficked area of Rome and is anything but quiet.

But for me and my 17 year old self, there was something so peaceful about sitting on those steps in the midst of a bustling crowd of locals and tourists.
As I think back to that moment, it reminds me of a quote from The Great Gatsby,

"I like large parties, they're so intimate. At small parties there isn't any privacy."

I hope you guys enjoy this picture.
Give it some time. Look at it more than once.
Try to imagine yourself casually sitting on the tan steps, surrounded by the sounds of a moving crowd, honking horns, and rushing water.
What would you look at? Who would you focus on? Would you feel alone? Or [like me] would you have a strange feeling of belonging?

Have a wonderful Monday,
-C.

He enjoys long walks down the horse trail, barking frequently, and taking the squeakers out of his toys.

Have a fabulous weekend, my friends!

Day 15.

Yesterday, I learned about light.
And the powerful role it plays in photography.
So, I thought I'd post a photo that goes along with that theme.

Isn't this just beautiful?
I love the sun spots, and the way the wood gets darker as it follows the diagonal line away from the sun; and the glimpse of green leaves that however subtle it is seems to command your attention.
And of course, the beautiful face of my sweet friend.

Friends, what do you think of this photo?
What catches your eye?

See ya tomorrow!

PS Day 15- We're halfway done!

Day 14.

Today I'm taking a break from the ultra artistic and posting a photo of just plain fun.
Real life, real people, just having fun.

Day 13.

This photo was taken in Charleston, SC.

It was a windy day, and the air had that warm energy that it suddenly gets right before a storm, as if it senses that at any moment the clouds will unleash their scattered weapons against it;
 and it must be prepared.
All throughout Waterfront Park, people were scurrying--heads down, collars up, shielding the wind from their watery eyes. They followed familiar paths home.
Home-where they could lift their heads, draw off their coats, and rest in a window seat until the storm passed.
But in the midst of blurred khaki trench coats stood this couple, completely motionless except for the slight sway of the dock upon which they stood. Staring out into the choppy waters, embracing one another, it was as if they were in an alternate time and place- one that was not on the brink of a tempest.
Not wanting to disturb their moment, I snapped a photo from afar.

To me, this image will always be a true picture of "the calm before the storm."

PS I couldn't decide which was better- color or B&W. What do you think??

See ya tomorrow!
